Hey ladies! We all know how frustrating 4c hair c n be, especially when it refuses to cooperate. Well, here are certain tips to help in achieving a more manageable hair if you’re on the 4c side.

MOISTURIZE

Be consistent in Moisturizing your 4c hair daily, this helps in improving dryness, and reflects in the condition of your scalp. You realize when your hair is dry, it can affect your scalp. Right? Right. So, in as much as you want to see progress on your hair, you should also endeavor to find a good moisturizer and work towards massaging from the roots to the ends of your hair.

DEEP CONDITION

There are many DIY deep conditioning treatments available for 4c hair, take time to browse on them and look for whichever suits your 4c hair best. Deep conditioning helps the hair in maintaining its strength and volume while ensuring that your hair is easier to manage while style or combing. Do this once in two weeks for better results.

WATER

Yes, water again! Drinking water helps in managing difficult hair, so if you ever find yourself struggling after exhausting all your efforts to manage your hair, try water. Not only does it help in improving your hair, it also affects every area of your body and causes your organs to function properly well. Drink 6-7 glasses of water a day and watch the amazing transformation it brings.

EAT HEALTHY

One way of maintaining your hair is by eating well, we already know that what goes into our bodies reflects in every inch of our appearance, thus, eating healthy should be a top priority if we want to maintain a healthy hair growth.

DETANGLE GENTLY

When you find yourself taking out a protective style, do not be rough with your hair as it can lead to hair breakage which can in turn damage your scalp and cause uneven ends. So, try as much as possible to detangle gently using your fingers before combing. This can help in reducing the number of strands you see on your comb.

When it comes to styling your kids, there are a thousand and one options you can pick from. Although, we’ve selected a few of these methods in order to make them even more beautiful and satisfied with their hair. Many of us parents may have noticed how difficult it is trying to get your child to cooperate with the hairstylist, and in as much as we try, sometimes it gets too difficult and we give up. ‘’just do anything simple for her’’, you say to the hairstylist, irrespective of what you had planned. I once took my sister to the salon to make her hair and I spent a lot trying to placate her, in the end, we got home and few hours later, she had loosened all the strands of hair picked. Annoying, right?

Anyway, here’s a list of things to do in order to avoid all that drama.

MAKE SURE THEIR HAIR IS IN GOOD CONDITION

Most times we underestimate the importance of keeping our children’s hair in good shape. A meagre amount of hair cream here and there and we think it’s all good? No. we need to consistently condition their hair, wash when necessary, and apply a wide range of products to ensure it is healthy enough to be plaited, else it might be difficult to manage and could lead to hair breakage.

FORGO UNREASONABLY TIGHT BRAIDS

Contrary to the opinion that says ‘’beauty is pain’’, our children do not have to go through all that struggle just to look beautiful. When styling their hair, make sure you’re not putting them through more than they can handle, as this can make them uncomfortable.  If necessary, ask the hairstylist to go easy on the scalp and this could in turn prevent redness or blisters resulting from overly tight braids.

DO AWAY WITH EXTENSIONS

Adding hair extensions can be a major cause of pain while styling, and this can also have other adverse effects such as weakening the hair, which could ruin it in the long run. Let their hair breathe, there are many fashionable items these days that can be added to the hair such as beads, rubbers, etc. Do this instead and watch how helpful it becomes afterwards.

UNDERSTAND THE TEXTURE OF THEIR HAIR

There are a lot of beautiful styles we see on the internet, magazines and so on, and sometimes we get carried away and impose that on our children, without even knowing if the texture of their hair is suitable for it. So next time you think of doing that style you saw in a magazine for your child, make sure her hair is suitable enough for it, in order to avoid any sort of damage.

So, these are a list of options to pick from in order to achieve a flawless look for your child. Remember, practice makes perfection.

In our last publication, we gave you tips on how to set up a basic skincare routine. For many people, following the simple tips to creating a good skincare routine and having an awesome skin is not the problem. The problem is that their skin is not like others’ so the therapy doesn’t work the same way on them because they either have oily skins or dry skins. Not to worry, in today’s publication, we will be giving you tips on how to handle and control oily skin to give you a perfect skin.
In order to control oily skins, you’d find the following tips very useful;

1. Get a foaming cleanser
This is the best choice for oily skins as foamy cleansers remove oil gently from the skin. You do not need to apply much to your face, just a little is enough. They come in gel, pump and cream forms, so whichever one you prefer to make use of.
Be careful to wash your face only twice a day as washing it too often can actually cause the skin to produce more oil and pimples.

2. Go for ingredients that battle acne
If your skin is acne-prone, then it is best you use tougher ingredients that will reduce oil and pimples on your skin. Such common and effective products include; Benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, sulfur, retinoid, etc.

3. Use a water-based moisturizer
Using heavy moisturizers will do more harm than good to your skin as it only tends to make it oilier. To avoid this, make use of water or gel-based moisturizers instead. To easily recognize these moisturizers, they are the ones that usually have water listed as the first or second ingredient.

4. Do not ignore clay masks
Clay masks are awesome friends for people with oily skins. Always smear them on your face after cleansing, then leave them on for 15-20 minutes before rinsing off. Apply moisturizers afterwards.

5. Keep your hands away from your face
There is no easier way to transfer bacteria to your face than touching your face with your hands. If you must touch your face, then make sure you wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water first to avoid causing pimples on the face.
Never pick, squeeze or pop your pimples. It would only make it hurt more and look worse and may eventually leave an ugly scar there.

In our next publication, we will give you tips on how to control dry skin.
We do hope these tips work for you, and we anticipation your positive reviews and testimonies. If you have any suggestion on any other ways people with oily skins can control it, please do well to drop in the comment section, so other readers can read and learn as well.

We always get questions every time we write about Natural Hair. We have received several private messages from those who are thinking about going natural or who want to do the big chop (cutting off all of their chemically straightened hair). We say, go for it! It’s a great way to familiarize yourself with your roots…literally, the roots of your hair and the amazing texture that it sprouts. But it’s easy to get discouraged from taking that leap when the natural hair community has such a strong fixation with long natural hair.
We have highlighted some styles you can rock depending on how low your hair is.

Just get a low cut and wear your hair ultra-short. This is a brave move but it can look absolutely stunning! You can even give it an attitude with a side part.

Accessorize with metal headbands and chains or just rubber Alice band for that calculated look.

Use a head wrap to add a lil somethin’ to your little curls. Sometimes, less is more

Go Bantu!!! Consider going to a professional stylist to get it done if you want to make sure that each knot is even. As you can see, this isn’t just a way to get a great twist out overnight; it’s a fun, edgy look that looks great when you wear it out, too!

Rock some flat twists on one side or both sides of your head and leave the rest of your hair loose or coiled.

Do you have very short natural hair? How do you like to style you hair? Are you thinking about going natural or getting the big chop? Tell us in the comments!

We cant wait to hear from you.
